With presentation plaque dated 1911 from Gateshead on Tyne. Box itself is in good condition notwithstanding repairs. However there is no key which means it is not practical to carry the altar when closed with the handle - it would have to be strapped up until a key could be made. A velvet lined compartment for chalice, paten etc, sadly empty, is under a lift up lid. The stand out detail is the carved Lamb of God. With some work and equipping this would make an excellent travelling altar set.
