1834 French Top End Bronze Gilt Reliquary with Document of Authenticity (SOLD)

 

France, 1834.

Presented on a square-shaped base on four foliated feet, decorated with rosettes and a central medallion representing the instruments of Passion.

Central column with embossed decoration of two winged angels.

Reliquary surrounded by two cornucopia with wheat and vine topped by a plain cross.
Displays the relics of the True Cross of Our Lord, St Peter, St Vincent de Paul, St Irénée de Lyon (St Iranaeus),  St Francis de Sales, St Charles Borromeo, St Francis Regis, St Stanislas Kostka, St Louis (Aloysius) de Gonzague, St Ignace (Ignatius) de Loyola, Ste Anne, Ste Thérèse d’Avila, Ste Catherine de Alexandria.

It opens on the back and reveals a wax seal, underneath which is a paper attesting to the authenticity of the Relics and dated 1834. Base re-gilded in 2021.
