The altars are centrally located in the sanctuary, is to be the focus of attention in the church. The altar is the heart of the church. A credence table is a small side table in the sanctuary of a Christian church which is used in the celebration of the Eucharist. The credence table is usually placed near the wall on the south side of the sanctuary. Communion table or Lord’s table are terms used by many Protestant churches—particularly from Reformed, Baptist and low church Anglican and Methodist bodies—for the table used for preparation of Holy Communion.
