Two Hundred Year Old Large Painted Austrian Dowry Chest (SOLD)
A mysterious and beautiful object. Still with its original bun feet this large chest would have been used to store bedding, blankets and clothes. Two painted panels depict bowls of flowers, the central one with the date 1819, possibly shows a bishop in his robes. The interior is very clean and has obvioulsly not seen that much daylight. Old woodworm holes which we have treated.
