WW1 Tragic Double Memorial Oak Prayer Desk Prie Dieu (SOLD)

An attractive medium to smaller size prayer desk with a double memorial the like of which we have not seen before.  In short it tells the story of a couple who marry, move to New Zealand just before World War 1.  She dies, possibly in childbirth in 1913, he returns to Europe and dies in the war, four scant years later.  Maybe with not that much to live for.  We are living in times where people are terrified of death: often a reason for praying.  What better prayer desk to have than one which is a constant reminder of the transience of life?  We were also given another plaque which was on a piece of furniture given to the church by Herbert Milnes before he died.  Note the Bible quote…..
